A "Province/Region" field and a "Country" field have been added to the Customer information screen.

And a few more bug fixes...
We're always striving to make SWBTracker as stable as it can be.

    SWBTracker Version 5.1 Release Contents
    View All Defects by Release
SWBTracker now allows all defects for an entire release to be viewed simultaneously in the detail browse list, rather than only by program. This feature is enabled in the Preferences on the General tab by checking the box labeled "Show all defects by release". When unchecked, SWBTracker only shows defects for the currently selected program.

    Multiple Products per Customer
Customers can now have multiple products, and each product can contain its own notes, active status, purchase date, support expiration date, etc. Formerly, SWBTracker only allowed one product per customer, even though the software tracked defects for any number of products. For users of version 5.0, running version 5.1 will automatically detect the old data files and upgrade them the first time the new version is started. Since there is no way for SWBTracker to know which customers have which products, the application will automatically add the current product to each customer, and move the existing product information for each customer into that product. Customers upgrading from version 5.0 should review all customer product information in case this assumption is incorrect for some customers.

    Exporting and Posting "Filtered" Defects
The Export to ASCII feature and the Post Defect Database features now process only the defects shown by the current View. That is, if you want to control or restrict which defects are exported to the ASCII file or posted to the web for remote users to retrieve, this can now be accomplished by first creating and applying a View filter. Once applied, the export and post processes will only export or post the defects that are shown while the View is applied. This can be useful for exporting or posting only bugs within a particular defect Group, or restricting output to defects within a particular date range. Any criteria that is available in a View filter can be used to control the output of the Export and Post features. Users should note that Exporting to ASCII only exports defects from the current release, while Posting the Defect Database can posts defects from all releases, or just the current release (see below).

    Posting Defects for Current/All Releases
The Post Defects (for remote synchronization) process has been split into two menu options on the Remote menu: Post Defects – All Releases and Post Defects – Current Release. This allows users to post only defects from the current release if desired. In previous versions, posting the defect database always posted the defects from all releases of the current product. If you are using the automatic posting process (as configured on the Preferences – Remote tab), you can now select an option on that screen that will control the automated process as well. A new option "Post All Releases (or) Current Release" will allow you to select how the automatic posting process will be implemented. Both options continue to assume the current product when posting the defect data, however you now have control over which releases (all or just the current one) are posted to the FTP server.

    SWBTracker Version 5.0 Release Contents
    Remote Submission of New Defects
SWBTracker now allows defects to be entered and submitted by remote users. A copy of SWBTracker can be used on the host end to automatically check for and receive new defect submissions, which are automatically imported into the master database on the host side.

    Remote Updates from Master Database
The host system can now export and post a copy of the defect database on an FTP site for remote users to download and import into their local database. Both the host's posting process and the remote user's retrieval/import process are single-click functions. The host's posting process can also be automated to post the current version of the defect database automatically at regular intervals. Remote users can import this data as often as desired to update their local copy of the database, allowing them to view recent changes made by other users.

    Importing of Defects
Defects can be now be imported into the SWBTracker database from an ASCII text file. By creating a standard comma-delimited ASCII file, users can export defects from other applications such as databases or spreadsheets and subsequently import these defects directly into SWBTracker.

    Filter Defects by Group
Defects can now be filtered by Group within a release. The Views (Filter) customizer will allow you to select to filter defects by showing defects in all groups (no group filtering), or within a selected Group.

    Defects by Group Listing
SWBTracker now allows you to print a summarized listing of defect Groups along with the programs and defects that belong to each group.

    Automatic Display Refresh
You now have the option to have SWBTracker automatically refresh the Program/Defect browse lists at regular intervals. You can enable or disable this feature and select a refresh interval in the Preferences screen.

    SWBTracker Version 4.1 Release Contents
    Export Reports to HTML
When printing reports from the Report Selector window, users can now select to print a report to an HTML-formatted file by clicking the HTML button. The program will prompt for a file name that the HTML file will be saved to.

    Enhanced Defect Filtering
The Filter customization screen now allows for expanded filter settings. It is now possible to filter defects in the main defect browse list based on Date Reported (Origin - Report Date), Date Fixed (Correction - Actual Fix Date), Date Tested (Verification - Date Tested), Fixed By (Correction - Programmer), and Tested By (Verification - Tester).

    Defect Sorting
The Filter customization screen now allows for sorting to be specified for each filter. The system allows up to three levels of sorting to be specified, each in ascending or descending order.

    Enhanced Defect Searching
The Find Defects dialog now allows users to search for defects based on the Programmer, Tester, or Reported By field contents.

    Y2K Enhancements
SWBTracker has been modified to correctly handle the data entry of two-digit years according to the following assumptions (note that four-digit years are not translated):
  • Any two-digit year that is more than 50 years prior to the current year will be translated to the next century. For example, if the year is 1999 and the user enters 12/5/40, the system would assume that this date is referring to 2040 since 40 is more than 50 years before 99.
  • Any two-digit year that is more than 50 years after the current year will be translated to the prior century. For example, if the year is 2000 and the user enters 12/5/99, the system would assume that this date is referring to 1999 since 99 is more than 50 years after 00.
  • Any two-digit year that does not fall into category (a) or (b) will be assumed to be the current century. For example, if the year is 1999 and the user enters 12/5/95, the system would assume that this date is referring to 1995 since 95 is only 4 years before 99. Or, if the year is 2000 and the user enters 12/5/05, the system would assume that this date is referring to 2005, since 05 is only 5 years after 00.
These assumptions will effectively allow users to enter two-digit years as part of their data entry, and still have the system function properly. If a four-digit year is explicitly specified, the program retains the year entered with no translation. The product has also been enhanced to show and accept four-digit years on all screens and data input fields. Additionally, all dates are stored in the database along with their century. For maximum accuracy, it is strongly recommended that all users set their operating system's (Control Panel) regional settings to use a four-digit year, and enter four-digit years into the software wherever dates are required.

  • SWBTracker Version 4.0 Release Contents
    New Browser Split-Screen Mode
The main application browser window can now be "split" to allow viewing of programs and their associated defects in a split screen view, with programs on the top half, and defects for the highlighted program displayed on the bottom half. The split windows are resizable using a standard horizontal splitter bar. The split mode selected remains in effect when SWBTracker is restarted.

    Enhanced Defect Browser Column Control
While browsing defects on the defect detail screen, users can now right-click and select Columns from the popup menu. A submenu allows you to select which columns you want to view on the browse screen. Column settings are saved on a per-station basis, so users can keep individual settings for their station that remain in effect when SWBTracker is restarted.

    Enhanced Selection of Defects
While viewing defects on the defect list browser screen, users can now use new options on the Edit menu (off the main application menu) to Select All displayed defects, select the currently highlighted defect, or Toggle Selections (reverse selected and unselected). The browse screen also uses a checkbox in front of each defect item to allow for easier selection. Simply click in the checkbox to "mark" or select one or more defects. When many defects are selected at one time, they can be all be assigned to a group, deleted, or moved with one command.

    Program / Defect Counter
While viewing programs or defects on the main window, the status bar now displays a count of the number of items displayed in the window. The count also reflects the number of items displayed when a filter is applied.

Easy E-Mail or Home Page Access to Software with Brains
The Help menu contains new options that allow access to the Internet Home Page for Software with Brains, as well as E-Mailing Software with Brains.

    New Tutorial Help File
New users can now get acquainted with SWBTracker with the help of an on-online Tutorial help file. The tutorial has several short, easy-to-follow lessons, that walk users step-by-step through the most important features of SWBTracker.

    SWBTracker Version 3.2 Release Contents
    New Priority Field for Defects
Defects can now be prioritized using a new priority field, which allows setting a numeric priority from 1 to 999. This priority can be used to filter which items are displayed on the screen as well as on defect reports.

    Expanded Reporting Options
The report customizer screen now allows the inclusion of several fields on summarized reports, such as the Program Summary and Release Summary reports. These reports can now include or exclude the Status, Nature, Severity, Priority or Error Number fields. Summary reports can now be sorted by one of these fields.

    SWBTracker Version 3.1 Release Contents
    Defect Groups
Defects can now be grouped together to alert programmers and testers that certain changes should be corrected, tested, and released together. Groups will print on the defect detail report.

    Customer Tracking
General customer information can now be tracked, and multiple customers can easily be applied to single defect. The Customer and Contact fields on the defect information screen have been replaced by a Customer dropdown list that allows you to modify the list of customers associated with the defect. Customers will print on the defect detail report.

    Enhanced Filters
Filters can now be saved with descriptive names, and applied by selecting the desired filter from a list. If a filter is active when SWBTracker is closed, it will be applied the next time SWBTracker is started from that station. The active filter can be different on every station.

    Browser Column Sizing
The program summary and defect detail browsers have columns that can be resized by adjusting the width at the title of the column. Changes made to column widths will remain in effect the next time SWBTracker is started from that station. The column size settings can be different on every station.

    Instant Messaging
View Active Users has been renamed to Instant Messaging. From the Instant Messaging List you can now send instant messages to other people on the network who are currently using SWBTracker. Messaging can be enabled or disabled on each station from the Preferences screen.

    Copy Programs / Copy Filters
Saved filters can now be copied from one release to another. All programs and defects (optionally) can be copied from one release to another. This is often beneficial when tracking beta and general releases of a product, since the general release is often a superset of the changes that shipped in the beta release.

    Search on Origin Notes
The search feature now supports searching for text in the Origin Notes field. This is useful when trying to locate a defect based solely on the description of the problem.

    View Active Users
View Active Users now displays the SWBTracker User ID of each person currently running SWBTracker, rather than the network station name. This can be helpful when users override the default network station name and use the Set User ID utility to create a SWBTracker User ID.

    New Defect Number Increment Control
The default defect number for a new defect is always one greater than the last defect entered. Users can now tell SWBTracker to increment the defect number across all products, within each product, within each release, or within each program. This setting is global to all stations on a network, and determines where SWBTracker will look to determine the last used defect number. It can be set on the System page of the Preferences screen.

    E-Mail Notifications include Origin Notes
Automatic e-mail notifications will now include the Origin Notes as well as the Summary text and general defect information.

    Customers by Defect Listing
Prints a listing of all programs in the current release, the defects within each program, and the customers who reported each defect.
